Change a Student's Learning Level

A student’s learning level determines the difficulty of activities they receive on Adventure Island.

Matific automatically adjusts this level based on student performance, so in most cases, no action is needed. However, you can manually update the learning level as well.

When Should I Change a Learning Level?

You may want to adjust a student’s learning level if:

  • Activities feel too difficult or too easy for the student

  • You want to better match their current understanding

  • You want to ensure they are practicing at an appropriate level before upcoming assessments

💡 If students are using Matific regularly, their learning level is automatically optimised over time based on their performance.

How to Change a Student’s Learning Level

  1. Select your class from the class selector in the side navigation bar
  2. Go to Class Management
  3. Select the student(s) you want to update
  4. Click Edit Learning Level
  5. Choose the new level
  6. Click Save

💡The learning level can be changed for Financial Literacy classes as well.

Helpful Tips💡

  • When you change the learning level, it only affects future activity recommendations, not past work

  • The adaptive system may still include easier or harder activities to address learning gaps

  • A student’s learning level is separate from their class grade

  • If you're unsure on what learning level to set, run an assessment test.
