The Training Zone is where students can independently explore and practise Matific activities at their own pace.
Students can explore activities in two ways: Collections and Skill Builder.
Collections provide a discovery-led experience, helping students find activities based on their learning, activity history and interests. Skill Builder provides the familiar experience of browsing activities by skill or topic.
Skill Builder
Skill Builder is the familiar Training Zone experience.
Students can browse the skills and topics available to them, adjust the difficulty, select what they would like to practise, and choose from the available activities.
Collections
Collections group activities together to help students discover, revisit and explore Matific content.
Instead of starting with a specific skill or topic, students can browse Collections that bring together activities for different purposes.
Some Collections are personalized based on the student's learning and activity history, while others help students discover, revisit or explore Matific content.
ℹ️ Collections are dynamic. The activities shown can be refreshed when students enter the Collections experience, and can change as students learn, practise and explore Matific.
What Collections Are Available to Students?

Recommended for You | Personalized activity recommendations based on what Matific knows about the student's learning. ℹ️Relevant Focus Activities may also be included, helping guide students towards activities that are particularly useful for them. |
Close to Mastery | Activities designed to help students build on areas where they are already making strong progress and move closer towards mastery. |
Sharpen Your Skills | Activities targeting areas where additional practice could help the student strengthen their understanding. |
Your Favorites | Activities the student has marked as favourites, making them easy to find and play again. |
Replay Your Recently Played | Activities the student has played recently, so they can quickly jump back in. |
Matific Favorites | A selection of engaging activities suggested by Matific for students to discover and enjoy. |
Topic Spotlight | Activities from a selected mathematics topic, giving students another way to discover activities and explore different areas of mathematics. |
How do Students Access Collections?
To access Collections in a student account:
Log in to the student account.
Click Training Zone.
Select the Collections tab.
Browse the available Collections.
Scroll through the activities in a Collection.
Select an activity to start playing.
💡 Collections is selected by default when students open the Training Zone.
Students can switch back to Skill Builder at any time if they prefer to find activities by skill or topic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Collections Different for Each Student?
Students in the same class may see different activities in their Collections.
Collections such as Recommended for You, Close to Mastery and Sharpen Your Skills are displayed based on what Matific knows about the student's learning to surface relevant activities.
Other Collections are displayed based on the student's actions. For example, Your Favourites contains activities they have marked as favorite, while Replay Your Recently Played makes it easy to return to activities they have recently played.
What will New Students See?
Some personalised Collections require learning or activity history before Matific can determine which activities to be shown in a collection.
New students can still discover activities through Collections such as Matific Favourites and Topic Spotlight. As they use Matific and complete more activities, additional personalized recommendations can become available.
How Often Do Collections Change?
Where applicable, some Collections may also be refreshed when students return to the Collections tab.
The activities presented in Collections can change as students practise, build skills, favourite activities and explore Matific.
Do Teachers Need to Set Anything up?
No. Teachers don't need to set up Collections. Collections are automatically populated by Matific.
Teachers can continue assigning work as usual.
ℹ️Collections are part of the student-directed Training Zone experience and do not replace assigned work.
Can an Activity Appear in More Than One Collection?
Yes. An activity may appear in more than one Collection.
For example, an activity could be one of a student's favourites while also being recommended based on their learning.
