Teacher Dashboard

The Teacher Dashboard brings together the most important information about your classes into one place, helping you quickly understand how students are engaging, spot who may need support, and take action without digging through multiple reports.

It’s designed to save you time while giving you clarity on what’s happening in your classroom.

If you’re logging in for the first time, our Getting Started with Matific guide will help you set up your classes and students.

Who can access this feature

The Teacher Dashboard is available to:

  • Teachers
  • Admins
  • School Leaders

Teacher Dashboard vs Admin Dashboard

Matific has two different dashboards, depending on your role:

  • Teacher Dashboard
Focused on your class. It displays student activity, assignments, and progress so you can support learning day to day.

  • Admin Dashboard
Focused on the whole school. It shows school-wide usage, teacher activity, and grade-level readiness across classes. To learn more about the Admin Dashboard, see this article.

What you’ll find on the Teacher Dashboard

If you’re new to Matific, the sections below are the key areas to explore first.

Activity summary (top metrics)

At the top of the dashboard, you’ll see a set of summary cards. These give you a quick snapshot of how your class is engaging overall.

Typical metrics include:

  • Time on activities – Total time students have spent learning in Matific
  • Activities started – How many activities students have begun
  • Student-initiated activities – Activities students chose independently (outside of assigned work)
  • Stars earned – Rewards earned through completed learning

These numbers help you quickly identify overall engagement before looking at individual students.

Student Monitor

The Student Monitor gives you a clear overview of how each student is engaging with Matific.

Student Monitor

You can quickly see:

  • Activities completed
  • Time spent on activities
  • Weekly Quest progress
  • Recent engagement patterns

💡Hover over a student to view a breakdown of their activity, or click into a student for more detailed insights via the Student Activity Report.

Understanding Colours & Student Activity

The Student Monitor uses colors to help you quickly see both where students are learning and how well they’re doing.

Activity type (where learning happens):

  • Colours show the type of activity, not performance

    Examples:

    • Schoolwork: Teacher-assigned activities
    • Adventure Island: Independent, adaptive practice
    • Training Zone / Arena / Other: Skill-focused practice
  • Stacked bars show how many activities students have completed in each area over the selected period

Activity performance (how well they’re doing):

  • Colours indicate accuracy:
    • Green: Strong understanding (80–100%)
    • Yellow: Developing understanding (60–79%)
    • Red: Needs support (<60%)
  • Helps you spot who may need extra support

Filtering & Sorting:

  • Adjust date ranges, sort by activity, time spent, or completion levels
  • Quickly identify patterns: “Who hasn’t been active?” or “Who needs a follow-up?”

Drill into a student:

  • Click a student to see detailed activity
  • Understand where time is being spent
  • Jump to the Student Activity Report for deeper insights

Focus

The Focus card helps you guide learning when you want students working toward a specific topic or goal.

When a focus is set:

  • Students are guided toward activities aligned to that topic
  • Learning stays consistent across the class
  • Whole-class instruction becomes easier to manage

💡 Use Focus when introducing a new concept or preparing students for upcoming learning goals.

Assigned Work

The Assigned Work card shows how students are progressing through activities you’ve assigned.

Here you can quickly see:

  • Who has completed the work
  • Who is in progress
  • Who hasn’t started yet

This makes it easy to follow up and keep learning on track.
For more information about the Assigned Work Report, see this article:

Assigned Work Report

Reports and deeper insights

The dashboard gives you a starting point. When you need more detail, it links directly to reports that help you understand progress over time.

You can explore:

  • Student Activity Report – Detailed activity, time, and engagement data
  • Assigned Work Report – Completion status and progress on assigned tasks

Use the dashboard to spot patterns, then use reports to investigate further.

What’s moved since earlier versions

Some items previously shown on the dashboard are now available elsewhere for clarity and organisation.

For example:

  • Student Account Setup Progress is now managed from the Class Management page
  • We’ve removed the insights on engagement and struggles, as the AI Assistant can now provide more powerful, personalised insights

This helps keep the dashboard focused on learning and engagement, while setup tasks are in one dedicated place.

What to Do Next

If you’re just getting started, here are a few simple next steps:

  • Check the Student Monitor regularly to understand engagement
  • Use Focus to guide learning when needed
  • Review Assigned Work to follow up on incomplete activities
  • Explore reports for deeper insights into student progress

If you haven’t already, complete Getting Started with Matific to finish setting up your classes and students.
